Let’s make everyday R U OK? Day

The official day for the “R U OK”? campaign is coming up in September.  It’s a campaign to inspire and empower people to meaningfully connect with people around us and support anyone struggling with life.

Got a niggling feeling that someone you know or care about it isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it.

How?

By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up.

If they say they are not ok, you can follow RUOK’s conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are ok, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

At Egan Drilling, we are committed to providing support to our employees.  One way we do this is offering access to a counselling service for not only our employees but also their immediate family members.  It is a confidential service that our crew can use for assistance with work or personal issues.

If you or a loved one are seeking support for your mental health wellbeing, there are resources to help.  Visit Beyond Blue or the Black Dog Institute for resources and advice on where to seek help.
