Over several months, the Egan Drilling team has worked closely with McCullochs Drilling and Boring and Massenza Drilling Rigs to design and develop a tailored Massenza MI55 drilling rig specification that supports the future needs of Egan Drilling and our clients.
While Egan Drilling currently operates rigs that have been modified for water drilling applications, the new MI55 will become our first purpose-built dedicated water well rig, representing a significant long-term investment in our hydrogeological drilling capability.
Designed to provide greater versatility, safety, efficiency and capacity, the MI55 will strengthen our ability to undertake larger and more technically demanding hydrogeological drilling campaigns, particularly across the mining and resources sector.
The addition of a dedicated water well rig will further support our capability across water bore drilling, production bores, dewatering and other hydrogeological drilling programs.
We would also like to thank the teams at Massenza Drilling Rigs and McCullochs Drilling and Boring for their collaboration and commitment throughout the design phase.
The new MI55 is expected to arrive in Q3 2027, with final testing and setup to be completed before it enters operation.
